How health depends on atmospheric pressure

A bad mood, a headache, and sometimes a lazy person easily writes off during bad weather. Some of these statements are treated with understanding and even with sympathy. Others categorically reject this relationship. So, does the “heavenly office” really have such power over the human body? And how does atmospheric pressure (BP) affect health?
How health depends on atmospheric pressure

What you need to know about blood pressure
Scientists were able to establish that the air masses encircling our planet exert pressure on humans. And it is about 14 tons. It would seem that such a weight can crush all living things. However, this is not happening due to the internal pressure of the body. Both forces are balanced. Such a balance ensures a normal life on the planet.

How does atmospheric pressure affect a person and his health in case of deviation from the norm? This question has not been thoroughly studied by scientists. However, some patterns can already be discussed.

If the external pressure acting on a person changes, the body of a healthy patient is fully adapted to weather conditions. For example, some people do not feel pressure drops during takeoff and landing of an aircraft, they easily transfer flights to different climatic zones.

However, not everyone is so lucky. In people who are sensitive to changes in the weather, the body is not able to adapt to changes in external conditions. Such patients are called meteorological. Scientists believe that health problems arise as a result of internal tension in the body cavities and vessels.

Risk group

The change in blood pressure does not negatively affect all people. Some do not even notice external pressure. Others complain of minor discomfort. But there is a category of people whose well-being is deteriorating.

If you have symptoms of low blood pressure, you should immediately go to the doctor.
Doctors argue that it is in the following pathologies that atmospheric pressure can adversely affect human health:

Hypertension, hypotension. The internal pressure of a person, which is not in accordance with the norm, under the influence of external changes may significantly increase or sharply decrease. Such deviations can provoke a hypertensive crisis, lead to a heart attack or stroke.
Diseases of the respiratory system. The risk group includes people suffering from pulmonary hypertension, asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It is in these patients that exacerbations are observed with a change in blood pressure.
Vascular diseases. With such pathologies, the elasticity of the vessels is significantly reduced. They are no longer able to “tune in” to external conditions. This leads to persistent violations of blood pressure. Atherosclerosis is especially dangerous. Under the influence of internal pressure, atherosclerotic plaques are able to detach from the vascular walls, leading to thrombosis or thromboembolism.
Damage to the psyche. It has been observed that people suffering from psychosis, schizophrenia, may experience exacerbations as the weather conditions change.
Strokes Changes in blood pressure can cause brain damage.
Diseases of the joints and spine. People often experience pain “on the weather” for arthritis, osteochondrosis, intervertebral hernia, arthrosis. Sometimes old fractures or injuries bother you.
Chronic disease. With a sharp change in blood pressure, some pathologies may worsen.
With age, the tendency to meteorological dependence increases. This is due to a decrease in the elasticity of blood vessels and acquired diseases.
How does blood pressure affect the body?
Periodically, regions of low or high pressure are created above the surface of the Earth. The first ones are called cyclones, the second ones are called anticyclones. Blood pressure indicators can vary within 641–816 mm Hg. st when the norm – 760.

When the weather changes, the pressure may drop.
Cyclones are characterized by:
precipitation;
dampness;
high clouds;
strong winds.
Anticyclones appear:

windlessness;
heat or heat;
no precipitation.
The effect of atmospheric pressure on health depends entirely on whether the barometer’s indicators have increased or decreased in relation to the norm.

Low pressure effect

Decrease in blood pressure even by 10 units. delivers significant discomfort to weather-dependent people. When a cyclone in the air increases humidity, the concentration of oxygen is significantly reduced.

Low pressure can cause a headache.
People may complain of the following ailments:
shortness of breath;
severe weakness;
migraine;
heart palpitations;
throbbing pain in temples;
discomfort in the digestive tract.
The most acutely felt is a decrease in blood pressure in people suffering from heart disease, undergoing head injuries, faced with vascular pathologies and hypotension. Due to high humidity, the condition of patients suffering from respiratory system pathologies may deteriorate.
High pressure

Clear weather, as well as rainy, adversely affects the body.
